I think you forgot to actually update the DRIVER_VERSION in r8152.c to 2.17.2, which is causing issues with the scripts. More precisely, it's impossible to uninstall the Debian package because the prerm script is trying to remove version 2.17.2, which is not in the dkms tree.

edit: I don't know what the right fix is, or if that is related actually. I just know that dkms status shows version 2.17.1 installed and any script which mentions 2.17.2 doesn't work. Maybe it's something specific to my system.

Oh you're right, it should not be changed because I intended to update the Debian package version, not the driver itself.
I will patch to fix this soon.
