bug: Request to change multiple blinds does not always work #38
Comments
I do have a second blind now that I could setup, but 2 blinds is not much to replicate this issue. However, I understand generally what is happening. So, I do think that the API allows for multiple blinds to be controlled in 1 request, I will look into that and see if it is possible to implement it. What may be an option is to implement 'scenes' which would just be switches. Could do 1 per room and then.1 for all blinds. |
Hi Alex. Sorry am a bit delayed in replying. Sounds good, & strangely I have had issues with making scenes in the past, but I also had another plugin that was ultimately causing a variety of issues (now removed, but the SleepIQ plugin seemed to be causing all kinds of caching issues, HomeKit items renaming post a HOOBS reboot etc.. I was actually thinking recently about tinkering with some scenes again in the Home app.. Also, I know it's in a separate thread & older, but you also had a discussion going about the 200% for the full opening of the blinds, & I was curious if you ever did look into that or do any tinkering with it. I have as a normal action all of my blinds close up, but I have 2 in my stairwell that are 72" long & face east to the rising sun, so I have those set on a schedule in the MSBlinds app as it is now since that will close them, but if I re-open one, which I do on occasion, then I have to back into the MSB app, choose the stairwell & then slide the slider down. I'd be very curious about the 200% & how that might actually work in implementation. Curious your thoughts. I hope you are having a good new year. Randy |
I re-opened #7 (full blind motion/200%) I'll hopefully get a chance to do multiple blinds in a single query soon. Life is a bit busy lately. |
Hi Alex, yes, similar here, so truly, no concern with time, just LMK when you feel like poking around on it & I can do some testing perhaps should you need it.
:)
All my best to you
Randy

Any movement on this? Since I have 7 blinds this plug in does not work. it rarely closes or opens all of the blinds when it is supposed to. |
Sorry. have not had much time to work on my home bridge plugins too much lately and when I have, it has not been this plugin. Hopefully things should settle down within the next couple of months or so. |
Hey Mr. Alex. I see you have been plucking away a bit lately. Do you think you will do the 200% full range? |
Hey there.. Randy checking in. I have a scenario to run by you & get your thoughts, as I recall reading (at least previously) that you are not able to test with multiple blinds.. I have 10 blinds total, but I do have a odd wrinkle that happens, usually with some variance on how many will respond or not; but usually when I tell Siri (using HomePods) to open "All Blinds", the process will start, many blinds will open, but usually several will not respond, & eventually I am often stuck with a spinning blue ring on the MySmartBlinds hub, & it will eventually time out, but if I am testing I have to power cycle the hub as the blue ring circling / timeout takes a few.
If I issue commands requesting fewer blinds, like Siri Open the blinds in the living room, where there are only 2, it will usually succeed. I'm wondering about a queue stacking / timing issue here, since they do work if you one off them.
Also & possibly related, sometimes (again with using a HomePod to issue the verbal commands), I might say "open the blinds in the office", they will both open successfully, but Siri will respond with & I am paraphrasing "On of your devices did not respond), or some very close wording to that effect.
That can happen on occasion with just opening a single blind, & in that scenario they generally will still open successfully as well, but Siri will just think they didn't, so monthly she just complains falsely & the blinds still open. So both of those scenarios make me wonder about a possible timing issue when multiple blinds are involved. As watching the blinds & the blue ring, it almost seems like it chokes on too many request all at once.
Any thoughts / are you still developing / testing against a single blind unit?
FYI... RM
