Jool

Jool is the largest planet in the solar system and certainly the largest object in Kerbin's skies. Despite this, it was actually discovered fairly late in Kerbal history, as Kerbalkind originated on the far side of Kerbin. It is a swirling blue-white planet made out of the gasses hydrogen and helium, just like the Sun!

Jool is a large gas giant planet orbiting in The Sun's habitable zone. It has white and pale blue clouds, and a blue atmosphere.

Jool has five moons.

• Minmus
• Laythe
• Mun
• Kerbin
• Pol

In addition to these, movable asteroids can be found orbiting between Jool's atmosphere and the altitude of Minmus. Likely to be a diffuse ring system of debris leftover from the formation of the Jool system that never formed into a Moon.

Jool has two habitable moons, Laythe and Kerbin, which are very similar. Both are geologically active, are covered in liquid water, have breathable atmospheres, and have ecologies.

Jool, being largely made out of hydrogen and helium, was probably formed beyond the orbit of Tylo, before migrating downwards and warming up.
