This directory, SubmitArea_13TeV, needs to be located in the same directory as CMSSW_X_Y_Z that contains the compiled analyzer you want to run Before submitting jobs, you should get a grid certificate by running from a CMSSW area: voms-proxy-init -voms cms Then look in /tmp and find the most recent file like x590up_uXXXXX. Copy this file to your home directory, and then change one line in submitFile.pbs.sh to pick it up: export X509_USER_PROXY=/scratch/osg/dsperka/x509up_u130024 Now you can run on files using XRootD even if they are not available locally on the Florida T2. The submit script will still prefer local files if they are available. To submit Data and MC, use the template submitDataMC.sh on the hpc: ./submitDataMC.sh This calls the SubmitAnalyzer.py script, which uses a list of datasets in a text file to get the list of filenames from DAS using a command line query. It then builds the cfg files from template cfg files. Also, the list of datasets includes a field to put the cross section for MC. For data, you can also use a JSON file (it is defined in the template, i.e. templateData_74X_cfg.py). If jobs have failed, you can build a list of the failed jobs and put them in a file called resubmit.txt and rerun the SubmitAnalyzer.py script with the same options but adding --resubmit. It will then resubmit only the failed jobs. After the jobs have finished, you can merge the outputs using the hadd.py script. First make a folder where you want to keep the merged outputs, e.g. rootfiles_MC_XXXX If your results are in a folder called results_MC_XXXX, you can call the script like: python hadd.py -i results_MC_XXXX -o rootfiles_MC_XXXX You can do the same thing for data files. Additionally for data, you may want to combine different datasets and remove duplicate events. You can do this by doing: root -l -q -b removeDuplicates.C Just change the name of the input file inside the script.
