Attacking an Enemy

To attack an enemy, you simply need to place a specific block (by default, an OAK_FENCE) in an enemy's plot where the proper conditions are met. If successful, a war-flag will generate, and a "War Beacon" will appear in the sky above the center of the plot.

Typical conditions required to being a flag attack:

  • Your flagwar config.yml must have allow_attacks: true.
  • You must not be a server OP.
  • You must be in a world where war is allowed.
    • /townyworld will tell you if war is enabled in the world you're standing in.
    • Use '/tw toggle warallowed' to change this world property.
  • You must place your flag where there is no ceiling anywhere above. (It must be open sky.)
  • You and the other town must each have a nation, and those nations must consider each other enemies.
  • You and the other town must not be neutral/peaceful.
  • You and the defenders might have to have a specific number of people online in the town and or nation.
  • You might have to attack the plots on the edge of the town before you attack inwards.
  • You might have to pay money to place the flag.

Each war-flag has multiple phases, with the flag and beacon changing material with each phase. Once the final phase expires, without the flag being destroyed, the plot you attacked becomes yours and the flag will disappear. By default, players can only initiate a single attack until their flag is destroyed.

To protect the flag from defenders, you may choose to build around it, but this may or may not be allowed by the server you play on. The best way to protect the flag is to keep defenders away through combat.

Defending an Attack

To defend a plot under attack, you have three goals: Destroy the Flag, repel the attackers, and secure the area.

However you end up doing this is up to you. By default, flags are made with wool with a wooden fence as a base. Therefore, either using an axe or shears will work better than your sword. Keep your sword at hand though, as there will likely be attackers nearby who are out for blood.

Playstyle Considerations

There are several things when it comes to FlagWar to consider:

  • The server rules: Are there any limitations codified by the server you play on? One server may play entirely different from another.
  • Enemy Players: Are you limited by the amount of players online? By default, several players are required to be online from the defending town before an attack can start.
  • WarFlag Construction: Are the materials default, or have they been customized by the admins?
