High-level Roadmap for the Aether OnRamp project.
An initial version exists. Remaining tasks include:
- Specify requirements for BYO-Kubernetes scenarios.
- Extend gNBsim to support iperf (and/or other user plane workload).
An initial version exists. Remaining tasks include:
- Add missing component (from https://github.com/opennetworkinglab/aether-configs)
- Automatically load AMP config files (ROC Models & Monitoring Dashboards)
- Reconcile with manual approach (e.g., values.yaml files, clean-related targets, milestones)
An initial version exists. Remaining tasks include:
- Monitoring dashboard is incomplete
- Better describe the "SIM burning" process
- Add a second (and third) base station
- Continuously monitor from Raspberry Pi + Dongle
An initial version exists. Remaining tasks include:
- Enable secure login using Keyclock (https://docs.aetherproject.org/master/developer/roc.html#securing-roc).
- Develop end-to-end API tests.
Grow the cluster from a single server to multiple servers. Work on this stage is underway, and includes decoupling gNBSIM from SD-Core, with both able to scale separately. The approach will also unify how the Kubernetes cluster connects to external RAN elements (whether they are physical or simulated).
Spin up multiple Slices and UPF instances.
Support other network configurations, such as SR-IOV.
Integrate SDRAN-in-a-Box into OnRamp:
- Prune options (focus on OAI Hardware & RAN Sim)
- Run on RKE2.0 (rather than Kubespray)
- Integrate with SD-Core (rather than OMEC)
The above list is not meant to be exhaustive.
