Troubleshooting

Before troubleshooting SIM please make sure that you can install Sitecore using executable installer or manually from zip and make Sitecore boot correctly from the same folder were you (would) ask SIM to install an instance to.

Installation

  • If you see 'permissions are not set' error during installation, please make sure that SQL Server user account you use has full permissions for creating/deleting databases in the specified folder.

Known issues

  1. Outdated download links in Prerequisites.json
  2. Prerequisites require Internet access to be installed
  3. SQL Server integrated security is not supported
  4. HTTPS or IP-based Bindings are not supported
  5. Sitecore environment can use only the default HTTPS port 443
  6. SQL Server 2012 or 2014 default user account is not supported
  7. Automatic upgrade to SIM 1.6 is not supported
  8. "You probably don't have necessary permissions set. Please try to click 'Grant' button before you proceed" this error may occur if the selected connection string does not have permissions for creating/deleting databases.

Typical problems

  1. Installation fails while Attaching databases processor
  2. Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {2B72133B-3F5B-4602-8952-803546CE3344} failed due to the following error: 80040154 Class not registered error may occur if IIS is not installed.
