Ethical Issues
The realm of IT work is not a very privacy-oriented field. However, GoMap aims to keep the information passed to the IT technicians or users on the same level of security as if the technician was at the machine diagnosing it on site. Items such as the IP address or MAC addresses of machines are as available as they would be normally for an IT tech.
Usage of the software itself will not cause discrimination of any form. As an IT tool, the only interactable objects would be the user uploaded map and the user placed points, which direct either to another layer of the map or a IP defined object. Therefore, the policing of the map is left up to the user group, as only specific members have access to changing the map image.
The software does have the ability to be abused, specifically in terms of running commands to machines. This is why each script must be approved before being able to be uploaded/used within the web application. As a security issue, running non-verified malicious code can screw up the entire application on its own, but, for instance 'DDOS'-ing a printer to make it shut down is also an issue. Therefore, in addition to approving scripts before uploading them, we also limit the amount of scripts running per user per machine to one at a time.
