While avoiding limiting articles to the constraints of the PDF format, Paper Now aims to provide a reasonable fallback for printed articles, by using a static image preview of each figure and providing a print stylesheet.
Although printing directly from a web browser should produce reasonable output, the print stylesheet contains extra features only supported by specialist tools such as Prince.
After installing Prince, create a PDF like this:
prince --javascript https://peerj.github.io/paper-now/ paper-now.pdf
See Prince's documentation for more command-line options.
Note that the print stylesheet is a work-in-progress, and Prince is currently not compatible with MathJax.
