What is the Health Manager?

Health Manager is a clinically relevant, patient-oriented decision tool that shows, predicts, and helps people with their health status.

  • uses and updates the longitudinal, standard patient health record
  • asks for and attends to patient needs and advice
  • occasionally asks for clarification (and patient-generated data)
  • shows more, tells less
  • optimizes the software's own behavior around the patient's behavior
  • speaks in simple terms (5th grade English, to start)
  • inputs and outputs via sound, voice/speech, visuals, etc (whatever modality works best for the human)
  • measures health status (by minute, hour, day, week, etc)
  • continuously evolves the patient care plan

System Principles

  • Accept any data, and output standardized, structured data (FHIR v4, USCDI v2)
  • Use and make open source care algorithms [licensed under Apache v2]
  • Patients own their health data
  • "Nothing about me, without me" - all uses of a patients' health data shall be consented in advance by the patient, other than uses required by law
  • Only handle information once

  • Build trust
  • Promote self-care
  • It's all about you

  • Design for everyday life
  • Design for sampling
