Pain. A medical doctors worst nightmare

Doctors already with their hands full with needing to sew together body parts, find deadly disease, forgetting about that one person in cryo.. now have a new thing to worry about, Pain!

Pain

Pain can affect an array of things, such as; slower movement speed, slower action speed, negative moodlets, and longer surgery speeds. Some side effects of pain also include; vomiting, stamina damage, jitters and more!

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, there's EXTREME PAIN. Being in this state of pain can cause neurogenic shock. Shock is essentially a disease that can decrease body temperature and other issues, until you eventually enter cardiac arrest. Staying warm, stopping any bleeding, and decreasing your overall pain can prevent shock from becoming fatal.

All body parts are subjected to feeling pain. Limb pain may cause paralysis, limping (legs) or brain damage (head).

Painful combat

No longer will you suffer from being able to smash the CE into the wall! Well, kinda. Combat has more feedback now. While IN combat, there isn't a noticeable effect. Post combat is when everything will manifest. Miners also have a skill chip that reduces pain when off the station Z level. They can also purchase a pain medipen.

Useful pain tools

You can treat shock with shock blankets. These will regulate their body temperature. Only takes effect when patient isn't moving, or is buckled down to something (like a bed). Also double as an emergency warmer if the environment is too cold or too hot for your liking. They can be found in emergency medkits and medical vendors.

General painkiller medipens can also be found in emergency medikits. They heal about 20% pain very quickly, with another +10% over (a long) time.

Temperature packs can be applied to hurt limbs to help them heal. Hotter packs have better pain modifiers, colder packs heal pain at a constant flat rate. Pressing packs against your limbs will slow you down, you can also apply them to other people. They can be found in medical vendors.

Pain. A chemist's second worst nightmare

Chemists, already busy getting high off of crack and meth, now have access to 5 new painkillers.

Pain killers, not drugs!

  • Aspirin - 1u salicylic acid, 1u acetone, 1u oxygen, 1u sulfuric acid catalyst
  • Paracetamol - 1u phenol, 1u acetone, 1u hydrogen, 1u oxygen, 1u nitric acid
  • Ibuprofen - 1u Propionic acid, 1u phenol, 1u oxygen, 1u hydrogen (makes 5 units instead of 4)
  • Propionic acid - 1u carbon, 1u oxygen, 1u hydrogen, made under 250 degrees. Cold reaction.
  • Aspirin/paracetamol/caffeine - 1u Aspirin, 1u Paracetamol, 1u Coffee

Quirky pain

Pain also comes with a few quirks!

  • Hypoalgesia - You're more resistant to pain naturally.
  • Hyperalgesia - You're less resistant to pain naturally.
  • Allodynia - You're less resistant to pain, and additionally, some actions which are normally painless will cause pain, such as hugging.
  • Prosthetic Limbs (Targeted) - Choose which limb you start with a prosthetic, and even start with multiple prosthetics.
