Thanks for sharing this work!

Unfortunately this plugin is in the process of being deprecated for the newer plugin here:
https://github.com/catalyst/assignsubmission-maharaws

Would you be able to port your improvements to the newer plugin? - once the feature lands in that plugin we could consider merging it in to the older plugin as well.
