DHIS2 Resources

This GitHub wiki is the place to find templates and tools for DHIS2. It is sponsored by LogicalOutcomes and is open to anyone who wants to share.

Who is this Repository for?

Students

Browse through our DHIS2 Curriculum, with many links to YouTube videos. This content was created over two years ago, and does not match most recent DHIS2 versions. However, we put a lot of thought to the modules, and order in which the content is presented. LogicalOutcomes is available for hire to create custom training modules for organizations of all types and sizes. We encourage new learners to take the DHIS2 Fundamentals course; it's online, self-paced, and offered for free from the University of Oslo. It takes 20-30 hours to complete.

Trainers

Organizing a training event is a complex task; LogicalOutcomes has prepared a number of tip sheets to make the process a little easier - see the side menu. You can also copy our end user manual (in English), and customize it for your program.

Implementers

With some DHIS2 knowledge, you can configure/set up a program using the same metadata workbook we use. Getting started with DHIS2 requires an existing DHIS2 instance, either 1. download the WAR file and install a Java servlet container (like Tomcat or Jetty) and a relational database (PostgreSQL, MySQL and H2 are supported) on your local computer. Or 2. Hire a vendor to manage the hosting for you (we like Knowarth Technologies, and do not receive any monetary compensation for this recommendation). Check the side menu for resources for implementers.

Contact Us if you have feedback on our resources, or your own templates to share.

You may need to check with your donor or funder to get permission to share materials. Many project funders inexplicably put barriers around open access. Explain that sharing and open access benefit everyone: agencies shouldn't be creating solutions from scratch every time. We need to be able to build on each others' work.

Using the materials in this repository:

  • It's important to be gentle and appreciative with the folks who are sharing material. You may find typos, errors, and silly mistakes. Please make kind suggestions and encourage the community to be open by sharing your own tools and resources.
