kind-crun-wasm

This repository shows how to run WASM on KinD. It is build on the awesome work of https://github.com/second-state/wasmedge-containers-examples.

Quickstart

To get started just run:

# Create a "WASM in KinD" Cluster
kind create cluster --image ghcr.io/liquid-reply/kind-crun-wasm:v1.23.4

To test the WASM capabilities of your cluster you can start the example:

# Run the example
kubectl run -it --rm --restart=Never wasi-demo --image=hydai/wasm-wasi-example:with-wasm-annotation --annotations="module.wasm.image/variant=compat" /wasi_example_main.wasm 50000000

To create your own containers you can start here: https://wasmedge.org/book/en/kubernetes/demo.html

Approach

Upstream Kind uses Containerd and runc to run Containers. However crun has built in support to run wasm workloads. Therefore this Repository patches the original Kind node image and replaces runc with crun.

KinD -> Containerd -> crun -> WasmEdge

How to run

To create a KinD cluster with WASMEdge support you can use the following cluster description:

Start the cluster:

kind create cluster --config=cluster.yaml
