MBP Universal Adapter Version 2
This is the second version of the adapter that is updated to resolve design errors in order to ensure that it is functional in the MacBooks. Some of the improvements made here are the length matching of electrical traces, correcting the spacing of the pins for the wireless card connector, and the optimization of the design in general.
To use this adapter, upload the attached .ZIP file containing the GERBER files for fabrication at a PCB house like JLCPCB. This adapter is 17x10.6mm in size, 2 layers, and 1.2mm thick. Once it has been fabricated and delivered to you, solder the new wireless card to the contacts on the adapter. This part is more tricky, and it is required to use a heat gun and a good amount of flux to evenly distribute the solder across the contacts. From there, you can harvest the 30 pin flex cable connector from either the old wireless card or buy it new. The same applies to the antenna connectors, which are of a smaller incompatible size on the new MacBook Pro/Air wireless cards. (Not an issue with iMac wireless cards) To resolve this issue, you can either harvest the IPEX U.FL connectors from the old wireless card and replace the ones on the new card, or use a proper adapter (which is a cleaner solution but costs more).
