Manufacturer supplied 3d models are the rule, not the exception these days.
So, according to M1.2, the 3d models lib should be almost empty if not for exception 2 (included models generally at least provide "some advantage" in that having to download from manufacturer websites is often pretty involved).
Is the wording of M1.2 due for an overhaul?

This rule is really worded strangely. After all the goal of the 3d model lib is to provide an open source alternative to the often very restricted licenses of manufacturer models.
