Task list design possibilities:

  • Just one list (current design), make it centered
  • The selected list gets splitted into multiple lists depending on screen width.
  • Multiple lists (up to 3) can be selected, the bigger the more:
  • Small screen: The user can choose between the tabs "general", "models" and "textures" to bring up the according task list.
  • Mid screen: The user can choose between the tabs to hide this tab, the other two tabs will be shown.
  • Big screen: All lists are shown next to each other

Way to complicated and not good for fast switching on mid/big screen

Filter design:

At the moment the global filters unfold from the left side if the user clocks there. He can then change stuff and needs to hide the filter after that. Problems with this approach:

  • The filters are hidden by default.
  • If unfolded, they make space below them unusable for the task list.
  • When scrolling down, the filters are not accessible anymore.
  • The specific-filters position is only valid if only a single list type is shown at any point in time.
  • Without the specific filter, the folding from the left side does not make much sense. For general and texture tasks there is NO specific filter at all.

Possible solutions for public filter:

  • In collapsed state the filter menu name is displayed vertically. It turns 90° on click to normale psition. Specific filter appears whenever 3D model tasks are visible. Should move with the user.
  • Visibility and accessability good enough (+)
  • A screen-fixed filter icon. It expands public filter options on mouse-over and collapses on mouse-out.
  • Does not take away much space when not used (+)
  • Hidden by default, not very visible (-)
  • Put public filter on top of the page horizontally above the task list area
  • Good visibility and intuition (+)
  • Not moving with the user (-)
  • Screen-fixed footer/ side bar

Menu/general surrounding:

At the moment, the page looks like a block centered on the site. A lot of unused space beyond the block, looks kind of confusing with the tabs sticking out and the black inner area with random stuff in it.

Better apprach: Classical border/spaceless menu right on the top of the page. Margins left an right only INSIDE the working area, not outside of it. Basically remove the white area and maybe make the black area white.
