Greetings, reader! My name is Francis Emmanuel Calingo, and I'm an aspiring to parlay my data skills and experience towards the realm of public policy. I am driven to play a key role in the push to make data science an integral part of public policy decision making. Research on and implementation of public policies involve processing of and analyzing large quantites of data. The use and misuse of it (whether by design or unintentional) can have serious and transformative consequences (for the better or for the worse) on millions of lives and livelihoods. We've seen how much of an impact data science has had on sectors such as the tech industry and business, highlighted by the exponential growth of generative AI. That kind of impact can also be possible in the realm of public policy, it's about time that we harness the power of data science to help contribute to people-driven policies.
