Changes

  • Support for Crowd Control has been added! We'll have to wait until they enable it on their side, but our side is good to go! Here you can see the list of effects

    • If you want to try some of the Crowd Control features without actually streaming, you can try the "OfflineCrowdControl.py" script to randomly send Crowd Control messages to your local game! Requires Python 3.8 or above
  • Random turrets and cameras, and security computers to go with them, and datacubes to go with the security computers!

  • Made it so that the player can survive getting lit on fire once, at least on normal difficulty. Also made it so that you can use a shower to extinguish yourself just like how we added this to toilets and urinals back in v1.4.7.

  • Tweaked the randomized goals/starting locations a little bit.

  • Also tweaked the difficulty setting defaults a bit. To see what each difficulty setting uses as a default, you can select the difficulty and then click Advanced. Or you can look at the code here.

Check out the full README https://github.com/Die4Ever/deus-ex-randomizer/blob/v1.4.9/README.md

Changes

Randomized goal locations and starting locations.

Randomized medbots and repair bots. All of the vanilla ones are removed and new ones are added in random locations. The chance of a map having a medbot or repair bot is controlled by a setting in the menu. The default for Easy mode is 20%, Normal is 15%, Hard is 10%, and Extreme is 5%.

When a medbot is spawned, there will also be a datacube spawned near it medbot hint datacube

When a repair bot is spawned, there will also be a datacube spawned near it repair bot hint datacube

Randomized starting equipment, energy, and credits. On Easy mode you start with 2 weapons, 2 melee weapons, and 2 utility items. On every other difficulty you start with 1 of each.

I also made Paul mortal during the raid in mission 4, so you actually have to help him fight!

Locations of datacubes are randomized by default again.

Changes

Many improvements to the Rearranged Levels game mode, especially in Paris and Area 51, and some improvements to the NYC Airfield mission too. Because of this I have promoted Rearranged Levels from Alpha to Beta!

Now randomizing the stats of augmentations and skills. Also randomizing the damage and firing speeds for weapons.

Also added randomizing of strength and lockpick strength for doors, and the hack strength for keypads.

v1.4.7 redesigned menu, improvements to looting, and improvements to randomized passwords

When you click New Game, you will see this settings screen:

options

If you click Next then it will use default settings based on your difficulty choice. But if you click Advanced then you will see these settings:

advanced options

You can now see randomized passwords inside datacubes and emails without having to go to the Notes screen.

Now melee weapons are dropped outside of corpses, so you don't keep looting items you don't want. Gibbed enemies now drop keys instead of losing the key.

If you're on fire, you can now extinguish yourself by using a toilet or urinal.

Also I added some extra datacubes to mission 15 for some chambers that normally didn't have the password available anywhere, and made the doors breakable and lockpick-able just in case.

v1.4.6 Stick With the Prod mode, balance changes, improvements to logic for keys and doors, and new compiler

Stick With the Prod mode

Remember that we're police. Stick with the prod. The only weapon you're allowed to have is the stun prod, you will have to play strategically and make use of items and augmentations you normally might not use. To break crates you can throw them straight up in the air and they'll break from hitting the ground.

Stick With the Prod Plus mode

Similar to Stick With the Prod mode, except you're also allowed to use emp grenades, gas grenades, srambler grenades, the mini crossbow with tranq darts, and the pepper gun.

Balance changes

  • The spy drone moves faster now, and also deals some explosive damage in addition to the emp. It also recharges in 1 second instead of 30.
  • Healing aug has been nerfed, it used to give 5 health per tick at level 1 and 40 at level 4, now it's from 3 to 15.
  • Speed aug level 1 has been buffed but level 4 is the same, I thought the different between the levels was too large
  • Dragon's Tooth Sword has been nerfed, it used to do 5 hits of 20 damage each for a total of 100 damage, now it does a single hit for 24 damage. This means it might be able to break some doors that it used to not be able to.
  • Fire extinguishers now stack so you can carry 5 in a single inventory space
  • Hacking computers now uses 3 bioelectric energy per second, which means about 30 energy per hack if you're at level 1 computers skill
  • The PS20 has been upgraded to the PS40, it now does 400 damage instead of 8

Some fixes/improvements to keys and doors logic

  • key positioning logic has been loosened up for maps 03_NYC_747, 10_Paris_Chateau, 11_Paris_Cathedral, and 14_oceanlab_lab
  • the supply door in 05_NYC_UNATCOHQ has been made destructible just in case something is blocking it or sometimes Sam Carter blocks it
  • the doors for the sleeping chambers in 15_area51_entrance have been made destructible

New compiler script (for developers)

v1.4.5 banned skills and banned skill levels at 5% chances, slightly easier enemy randomization, improvements to rearranged levels, bug fixes for 08_NYC

There is now a 5% chance for a skill or a skill level to be banned. When a skill is banned that means the cost is set to 99999 for every level of the skill, when a skill level is banned then only that level's cost is set to 99999. So you might level a skill up to Trained and then discover that you won't be able to upgrade it further! Combine this with "Blind Skills Every Mission" or "Blind Skills Every 5 Missions" for some interesting results.

Slightly easier enemy randomization by adjusting the chances of creating more robots and other difficult enemies.

Improvements to rearranged levels, enabled randomization for Paris, Vandenberg, and Area 51 (sort of). Still in Alpha Testing, use at your own risk.

Fixes for issues in 08_NYC that the original game also had. Loosened up the annoying Jock triggers to get his helicopter to pick you up, and also fixed missing music. See issue #58

Also fixed a bug that the original game had, for some reason Sam Carter felt fear in some levels, this was obviously not intentional by the developers, so I've fixed that bug with this code

v1.4.4 more options for skill randomization

More options for how skill randomization works.

  • Normal Skill Randomization = Each skill gets a random percentage that is applied to the cost of all of its levels.
  • Blind Skill Randomization = Each level of each skills gets their own independent randomization. Also the Downgrade button is disabled on the new game screen to prevent peeking ahead.
  • Blind Skills Every Mission = Same as Blind Skill Randomization, except the costs get randomized differently every mission.
  • Blind Skills Every 5 Missions = Same as Blind Skills Every Mission except you only need to look every 5th mission. So make sure to check before starting the game, in MJ12, Paris, and then the final mission (no spoilers!).

Rearranged Levels now also works for missions 8 and 9, but it's still in Alpha testing, use at your own risk.

Bug fix for autosave keeping a hardsave for each mission.

Vans are now destructible with 500hp by default. This is most relevant in the Hong Kong Garage. Large metal crates and flaming barrels are still also destructible.

Fixed the original game's bug with the possible softlock in mission 4.

When you start a new game, you will see this settings screen

This should reduce the frequency of soft-locks when using Rearranged Levels, but that feature should still be considered as Alpha testing, use at your own risk
