About The Pull Request
Ship Name: Cheyenne-Class
Classification: Flotilla Operations Hub
Manufacturer: NanoTrasen Corporation
The Cheyenne-Class is the first generation of what Nanotrasen is calling "Flotilla Operations Hub. It is in its basic sense a state-of-the-art mobile space station, designed and constructed by NanoTrasen to serve as a central hub for frontier operations. Built with versatility and durability in mind, the Cheyenne combines the functionality of a large, stationary space station with the mobility of a capital-class starship. Its vast interior is equipped with all the necessary facilities to support a variety of operations, from scientific research and mineral extraction to security and medical response.
The Cheyenne also houses two specialized shuttlecraft, each tailored for specific mission requirements. The first is the Sierra-Class, a medical shuttle equipped with advanced life support systems, surgical suites, and rapid-response medical teams, designed to handle everything from minor injuries to critical medical emergencies in space or on distant planets. The second shuttle, the MALP-Class, is built for combat encounters, featuring reinforced armor, heavy weaponry, and tactical deployment systems, making it ideal for quick response to hostile threats and secure planetary operations.
Boasting a spacious command deck, multiple laboratories, secure brig facilities, and expansive cargo holds, the Cheyenne can accommodate a diverse range of crew members and specialists. As a beacon of NanoTrasen’s commitment to exploring and exploiting the vast, uncharted regions of space, the Cheyenne stands ready to support any and all missions in the frontier, providing a reliable base of operations and a symbol of human ingenuity in the cosmos.
Why It's Good For The Game
The Cheyenne-Class solves a large problem that exists with smaller server communities with multiple day or week long rounds. You might end up joining a crew and those people are less active during your available times. So, instead you might want to pilot your own ship, but the risks of going it alone are always extreme and can lead to Round Removal, or abuse of the respawn mechanic.
The Cheyenne solves this by becoming a hub for the players. Since everyone is returning to the same central base, wherever it might be relocated, they can reform their groups for new missions and head out as needed. Having two seperate shuttlecraft, and the ability to have a third smaller ship docked to its north. The Cheyenne can easily be converted into a stationary Station of sorts.
This all becomes even more useful when the default space map is increased. Meaning travel times to the central hub can become longer and longer, with the Cheyenne being able to support those operations. With upgrades, the Cheyenne can even be setup to supply power and atmos to visiting north docking bay vessels.
