🧙 Calvin Feldt

Web Designer & Game Developer

I'm an undergraduate at Louisiana State University where I'm studying Computer Science. I've worked professionally, independently, and with fellow students to produce and improve web applications, where my primary role was as a front-end designer. I've learned the basics of game creation with Unity and Unreal Engine. I've gained experience in a variety of programming languages and can learn new ones quickly. Many of my projects here were developed for courses, while some of them were also independently produced.

💻 My Projects

This is a very non-comprehensive list of some of the things I've worked on:

  • SKYRUNNER - An infinite sidescrolling platformer. The goal is to make it as far as possible through the randomly generated terrain. This is my first Unity3D creation and my first time making 3D assets.
  • TypeFrog - This website is for practicing your typing skills. TypeFrog allows users to upload their own prompts for customized practice and exciting sessions. I worked primarily as the front-end designer for the website, creating the themeing and formatting for most pages.
  • Bird Bounce - My first Unity project, which is just a simple Flappy Bird inspired game. Spacebar to jump.
  • Attack of the Fronks - Try to squish as many Fronks as you can in as little time as possible. Developed for the LSU's CSC2463. (This is currently experiencing audio issues along with the other Tone.js dependent projects)

📖 My Coding Story

When I was a kid, I loved Lego. Not just the sets with specific instructions, but also the boxes of whatever random pieces they had lying around. I always felt super excited to put together a cool new creation. Fast forward a few years to when Santa Clause gifted me a Wii (I was very good that year, what can I say?), I discovered another one of my passions: video games! Though it wasn't until high school that these two interests really mixed together. I took AP Computer Science out of curiosity and was hooked from my very first "Hello World!" I enrolled at LSU in Computer Science with a focus on Software Engineering hoping it wouldn't be too difficult to manage, but even though some classes have made me question my sanity, I've only grown to love this field even more. Every new project feels like putting more Lego bricks together to craft another creation. Driven by my passion for games and creation, I've begun experimenting with video game development and am looking to gain professional experience in the industry as the next step in my career. Soon, you'll see my name on the credits screen!
