Attacks

Ways to degrade an online forum are legion. Some of these are simple to counter with WarFlagger. Others are problematic. Discussions of solved and unsolved problems should be listed in this section.

Democracy is a positive thing in forum moderation, except when it isn't.

Attack Flagging is a problem that has shown up on at least one voting based forum.

The time honored tradition of Sock Puppetting.

OpinML Lawyers will emerge on WarFlagger, as they have on other forums.

Paid advocacy will become an issue. As well, accusations of it. Vote Buying discusses one aspect.

Not to be forgotten, We May Be Evil. Discussion of the fact that the owners of WarFlagger are human too.

Fine grained specification of respect for other users

It would be nice to be able to raise or lower your scoring algorithm's respect for other individuals in the system. That is to say, a user configurable whitelist/blacklist.

Further, this respect system could be capable of fine-grained specification of exactly where you respect a given user. You might, for example, want to see what UserA flags Interesting or Like, but feel that he is too heavy handed with the Disturbing or Inflammatory flag. Yet when UserB says Disturbing, you know you don't want to see it.

Further, with the implementation of Hashtag support, you can filter by topic. You might love what UserC says about gardening and related things, but not really care for his recommendations on religion or politics.

Respect specifications should be shareable, which will tie them into concepts like Curation and Switchable Viewpoints
