I disagree, shitposting and some level of trolling and slurs have to be accepted in that room as long as those are not hate speech. Like saying "F*** You" is ok to me in Bnon ...

I was more referring to "f-ck this <entire group of humans>" which goes hand-in-hand, e.g. with xenophobia, transphobia, etc.

I don't care about a f-bomb here and there, but if it's directed at entire group, it's not acceptable imo. The groups most people are going to come into contact with hate speech are transgender men and women, so I used that as an example of the most common types of abuse one might encounter in modern chat circles. We need to be as inclusive as possible.

I agree and I think the "no hate speech" is sufficient

I just disagree on "be kind and respectful" ... No this room was made specifically to allow people to "not be kind" (political correctness) and if you join it ... you have to accept the risk of "being trolled", "being insulted (except with hate speech)", facing edgelords, and allowed to "shitpost" without a risk of ban. You could say "try to be respectful and kind but it's optional" ...

The whole point of the room is to provide a room for people willing to rant, shitpost, troll a bit, do some edgelording ... So I would limit the rule to "no hate speech"

For example:

  • You can discuss transphobia and even name some slurs as being problematic and such
  • You can discuss extremely sensitive topics including sensitive+controversial topics
  • You cannot however user those slurs against someone (hate speech)

So for an actual full example:

  • "You're a " to someone = nope
  • "I think all should be = nope
  • "I think many transphobic people use this and it's an issue = okay
  • "Fuck you @anyoneintheroom" = okay (not hate speech, just a standard slur)
  • "My opinion is that <insert whatever thing) is bad/good = okay (not inciting, not hate speech, opinion giving only)

There are exceptions part of "hate speech" like there can be no "historical negationism" ... Stating that "the "holocaust" did not happen" is active hate speech = nope

Saying that "<insert minority) are " = hate speech, nope

Yet it's authorized IMHO to discuss those topics, like it is possible to discuss transphobia without being transphobic. Just saying " is transphobic and bad" != hate speech but only discussing a societal issue.

Trying to debate the Holocaust, the Holodomor, the Armenian genocide, the Rwandan genocide in any "minimizing way" is hate speech. Mods have to use their common sense for this.

But saying "F*** you, I don't like you" to someone ... well that's okay the other person can just ignore you....

If you want a moderated off-topic without this. Then you should go to #psa-offtopic:matrix.org ... Where such things will be moderated as in on-topic rooms.

It's as simple as that in my opinion.

But we will never ever accept hate speech anywhere. However kindness and respect on Bnon ... that's not necessary imho. Anyone is free to give an opinion. But there are limits. On very specific things. Those won't be accepted. At the discretion of the moderator/admin.

And this is why I proposed "try to be somewhat respectful" ... "try" :-)

- No hate speech
- No spammerino (scams, ads, flooding...)
- No doxxing
- No NSFW content (no Porn, no Gore, no Hentai...)
- No doxxing unless specific user permission
- No NSFW media content (no Porn, no Gore, no Hentai...)
- Talks about Sci-Hub and/or LibGen, Z-lib, etc. are allowed in this room no matter their legal status
- All of the above can result in an insta-ban depending on the severity
