I Got Banned

The ban

If you get a ban screen similar to this one on game launch:

then someone reported your chat messages and you have been banned by Mojang from multiplayer servers and Realms. Depending on your case the ban may be temporary or permanent.

However, if you receive a different message and it only appears when joining a specific server, contact that server's admins instead.

How it happened

  1. If you used No Chat Reports, then you very likely had one of those icons on the bottom right of the chatbox: red eye (Realms) or red ⚠️ (chat reporting enabled).
    • If you didn't use the mod before the ban, then you could've received it on any server you've joined.
  2. In that server you said something that fell into any of the report categories.
  3. Someone reported you for the reason you see in the ban message, or Mojang monitored your Realms chat and took action proactively.
  4. Mojang banned you for the time period stated in the ban message.

Unfortunately there is no way to know when you got banned, who reported you or what exact messages broke the rules.

Appealing

If you meet Mojang's criteria (see "how to submit a case review") for a ban appeal, this is how you do it:

  1. Open the Case Review request
  2. Select "Minecraft: Java" as the game.
  3. Fill the form throughly with all information you have
  4. Submit the form
  5. Wait patiently for Mojang's response

If you own a Realm, you may want to pause your subscription as well.
