Hi 3Blue 1brown;

I just today finally watched your FABULOUS U-tube on how Bitcoin really works. It is SO accurate, in analogizing what's really going on "under the hood"! Massive Congrats!!!

Anyway, i often need good Spanish-language learning material about Bitcoin - tho' not always on the technical details like this. But if/ when i DO want to convey to someone a good 'layperson' view of these things, THIS is the best i've ever seen. So i was disappointed to see a Spanish language version isn't in a 'released' condition (& at first, i didn't even know about this draft version.
In going thru this draft - almost none of which i actually see needing editing for meaning or accuracy - i've made almost all the changes posted, in a (sometimes futile) attempt to eliminate words not absolutely necessary, in phrases/ sentences/ segments marked as possibly "too long" for the timeslot they evidently need to fit into.
I don't know if you really want to leave those words out - especially if it turned out they actually fit their 'timeslot'. Certainly, including those (semi-) 'optional' words makes it "better" (more correct & formal) Spanish. But if it's a question of having these subtitles or not (or voiceover, if/when you get that done), it's certainly MY preference to have 'half' (more like 3/4, IMO) than nothing.

I hesitate to do any more of this, 'til i know what you think about this.

One other possible way of dealing w/ this "too-long" issue, might be to add enough copied static frames in the video, to make room for the 'too-long' translations.

I am a 'gringo', & am not terribly good w/ verbal comprehension (even somewhat in my native English, due i think to personal weakness in aural recognition of phonemes). My spoken Spanish accent is pretty good, i think - but i don't think i'm qualified to do a Spanish voiceover.

I also need explanatory Bitcoin material such as this in Mandarin (primarily w/ the 'traditional' Chinese written characters, as used in Taiwan & Hong Kong). I also have some need for Japanese material - and was thrilled to find your EXTREMELY professionally - produced Japanese version - that speaker must be native and apparently w/ very good understanding of Bitcoin. (tho' i didn't listen to very much of that one, yet).

One more thing unrelated to translations: I hope you will add a LIGHTNING contribution capability - as you may know, for more than a year now, on-chain transaction fees have risen considerably, making many small donations infeasible (& even somewhat larger, but still modest, ones perhaps a bit 'painful'...)

And speaking of Lightning, it would be fantastic if you made an explainer for Lightning's operation, at the same, or similar level of quality & detail as this one for Bitcoin's base layer.

Last thing: I listened (watched) your recent Harvey Mudd Commencement talk - it was VERY good. Like another commenter on your Substack, i'd REALLY like to get a written transcript of it.

THANKS, & keep up your GREAT work - as i know you will.

Hi ww,

Thank you for your contribution. I'll convert it over to criblate.com, which is where I'm going to start handling new translation contributions, and over there it will be better integrated with YouTube so that contributions get pushed to subtitles there more quickly.

Regarding timing and dubs, I agree removing unnecessary words is the way to go. The goal is to create audio tracks that exactly match the existing videos, so they can be uploaded as alternate audio tracks on those videos, so adding freeze frames will not be an option.
