Zlux App Server Changelog

All notable changes to the Zlux App Server package will be documented in this file.

v3.1.0

  • Enhancement: if no zowe.logDirectory is defined in config, logging is disabled. (#317)

  • Enhancement: app-server tries to detect ssh and telnet ports (used by terminals) automatically. (#326)
  • Bugfix: app-server no longer causes Zowe to print "FSUM7422 node is not found" and "Node found in NODE_HOME" upon startup. This avoids confusion about if node requirements are met. (#325)

  • Enhancement: Added new plugin identifier for the V3 Ivy Desktop to list of default plugins. Also added this plugin to list of allowedPlugins.json.
  • Enhancement: Updated schema to document new entry points in V3.

  • Enhancement: app-server can now use Zowe's standardized and simplified AT-TLS configuration simply by toggling zowe.network.server.tls.attls: true or components.app-server.zowe.network.server.tls.attls: true. If you wish to control client tls separately from server tls, you can also use zowe.network.client.tls.attls or components.app-server.zowe.network.client.tls.attls. (#300) (#303)
  • Enhancement: The app-server configure stage performance increased due to combining two seperate processes in this stage (plugins-init.js and initInstance.js) into one. (#304)
  • Enhancement: Remove dns check specific to node 14 and below to reduce startup time. Node 14 has not been supported since september 2023. (#304)

  • bugfix: Removed error message "components/app-server/bin/configure.sh 26: .: FSUM6807 expression syntax error" seen in startup of Zowe in v2.11.0, caused by incorrect shell syntax. (#283)

  • Bugfix: The server couldn't load more than one certificate authority specified within the zowe.certificate.pem.certificateAuthorities section under any condition. Now, it is supported regardless of if the section is an array or a comma-separated string. (#266)

  • Enhancement: Migrated app-server configuration options into a "defaults.yaml" file which adheres to the schema of the Zowe config. This allows users to see the default behaviors more clearly, and can serve as an example by which users can customize their Zowe config to override such defaults. (#247)
  • Bugfix: Fixed the URLs app-server would print in the logs describing where it was accessible from. Messages were incorrectly pointing at the discovery server instead of the gateway server. (#247)

  • Bugfix: Explicitly prefer ipv4 dns results to be compatible with node 18 since it switched to prefer ipv6 without configuration. This behavior can be cusomized via components.app-server.dns.lookupOrder='ipv4' or 'ipv6'. It defaults to 'ipv4'.

  • Bugfix: Plugin register/deregister would not consider app2app actions and recgonizers. Now, they are added on registration and removed on deregistration.

  • Enhancement: app-server can now be configured by using configmgr. This increases startup time and validation of components and their plugins to increase automatic detection of plugin compatibility issues. This mode can be enabled or disabled with zowe configuration property 'zowe.useConfigmgr=true/false'
  • Bugfix: Schema regex pattern for semver range was not working in configmgr, and has been corrected

  • Bugfix: Prefer internal IP/hostname over external one when stating to discovery server where app-server is located. For many users there is no behavior difference because the values are the same.

  • Bugfix: Set the hostname used for eureka to match the value of ZWE_EXTERNAL_HOSTS if exists, or otherwise ZOWE_EXLORER_HOST, for the purpose of avoiding certificate verification issues between app-server and APIML under certain circumstances

  • Bugfix: Changes to terminal settings in instance.env would not take effect post-install, causing the initial values to be permenent unless users set personalized settings
  • Feature: More terminal settings present in the UI can be set as defaults from instance.env. TN3270 mod type can be set by ZOWE_ZLUX_TN3270_MOD, and the row and column by ZOWE_ZLUX_TN3270_ROW and ZOWE_ZLUX_TN3270_COL. ZOWE_ZLUX_TN3270_CODEPAGE also can be used to set the default codepage to a value which matches the strings seen in the UI, such as "278: Finnish/Swedish" for EBCDIC-278. As a shorthand, just the number can be set as well, such as "278".
