Notes

Details

To modify styles:

  • pages: assets/themes/css/style.scss

  • before entering pages: assets/themes/lab/css/style.scss

  • ASSET_PATH are in assets

  • When we use _layout, the default one points to _includes/themes/lab/default which has the top and bottom static bars; any of the non-default ones specifies the layout as default, and them set up ASSET_PATH and points to themes/lab/xxx.html for more specific setting. So when editing layouts, we just need to go to theme/lab/xxx.html for style changes.

  • need to check how to add "show N results" that update results shown in realtime, without needing to type again (just use the current prompt)

  • index_by_topic.md vs index_by_topic.html, the latter can render symbols like &nbsp but the former cannot. Not sure why. For now, change all the paper pages, index.html, archive/index.html and archive/index_by_topic.html, into .html from .md.

Desired Features

  • Add software to replace project
  • Add media/press.
  • associate relevant grant to the research topic
  • Consider a lab website to allow login and member-specific information (good-to-have)
  • Add student/trainee news/awards

Layout

I'm inspired by Trevor Bedford's clean, functional site. I intend to copy it---part of Trevor's intent.
