Your project, institution, department, domain or conference can collaborate on Zenodo using our communities feature, which serves as an shared area curated and managed by your team.

Each person always login on Zenodo using their personal account. A person can create a new community. Once the community is created, you can invite an unlimited number of people to your community. Each person is given a role below which grants them different levels of access to the community and its records. A member of the community can hold one of the following roles:

Any user on Zenodo can submit records for inclusion in a community. The community curators are responsible for curating the records and finally accept/decline the record into the community.

Digital Object Identifier (DOI): If your upload already has a DOI, please answer "yes" to the question and copy/paste the existing DOI. Note, make sure the existing DOI is for the same object. If your upload does not have a DOI, answer "no" to the question. The "Get a DOI now!" button allows you to reserve a DOI, so you can include it into the files you upload if so desired (e.g. to include the DOI into a PDF). ATTENTION: If you delete the draft upload, the reserved DOI will be lost.

The DOI will only be registered once the record is published.

Resource type: Select the type of resource you have uploaded (e.g publication, dataset, software, poster, presentation, ...). For mixed type uploads, choose the type which you think best reflects the nature of the upload.

Creators: Click the Add creator button to add one or more creators/authors of the record. Creators appear in the citation string of your upload. A creator can be a person or organisation. You can search for creators (based on ORCiD profiles for persons and ROR registry for organisations), or you can manually enter their information. Name identifiers (e.g. ORCIDs, GNDs) are validated. You can add one or more affiliations for a creator, and if desired you can assign a role for each creator. Once one or more authors have been added, you can edit, remove and reorder creators from the deposit form.

A Digital Object Identifier (DOI) is a globally unique persistent identifier for your record. The DOI is important because:

it makes your research more discoverable by indexing the DOI metadata in a global registry

By default, Zenodo registers DOIs for all uploads when they are published on Zenodo. In case you want to know the DOI in advance of publication, you can use the method described below to reserve a DOI. The reserved DOI can then be included in files (e.g. a text document) prior to uploading them on Zenodo.

Modify files after publication

We do not allow modification (add, remove, modify) of files after it has been published. Instead, you can use our versioning to create a new version of the record.

We however offer a one-month grace period after publication in which the files in a specific version can still be changed if mistakes have been found. After the one-month grace period we only allow modification in duly justified cases (such as copyright infringements, or exposure of personal data). All requests for modifications must be submitted to our support line, however please consider using our versioning feature instead.
+

+

We exceptionally grant a one-time quota increase up to 200GB for datasets. Please submit a request via our support line.

Search: Search for records in all of Zenodo. The search field is contextualised, so if you're browsing a community you can choose between searching only the community or all of Zenodo.

Communities: Browse and search for communities in Zenodo. A community is an area of Zenodo managed and curated by other users for e.g. their project, domain, institution or conference.

My dashboard: The dashboard provides access your content in Zenodo - to your uploads, communities and requests.

Inbox: The request inbox provides quick access to view your pending requests such as draft reviews, community inclusion, ownerships transfers, file replacements etc.

Quick actions (+): The plus menu allows you to quickly create new uploads or new communities. The menu is contextualised, so if you're in a community it allows you also invite new members.

Profile: The profile menu allows you to manage your account and settings on Zenodo such as changing password, linking/unlinking ORCID/GitHub accounts.

The search field is contextualised, so that if you search while browsing a community, you have the option to search only this community or all of Zenodo. The search field supports simple keyword style searches as well as advanced search (see the advanced search guide).

The communities section allows you to browse and search for communities created and curated by Zenodo users.

The + menu, allows you to easily create new content in Zenodo. It's contextualised so when managing a community your are an owner/manager of you can also invite new members from the menu.

Profile: Your full name, affiliations, email address as well as profile/email visibility.

Change password: Allows you to update your password if you logged in with a local account.

Linked accounts: All external accounts linked to Zenodo user (e.g. GitHub, ORCID and/or OpenAIRE).

The avatar (the round logo next to your name) is currently automatically generated based on assigning a random color from a palette and determining a start letter. We hope to in future versions to allow you to change your avatar, but current it is not possible.
If you have forgotten your password, or if you logged in with e.g. GitHub or ORCID and never set a password you can use this method to reset and create a new password for your account.
