The following use case is problematic in the current implementation of the encoding of the plugins to the URL: In the pagination navigation view of an application which doesn't encode the current navigation item into the URL the user navigates to a specific item and then chooses a specific content plugin. If he refreshes the page, because the navigation node's id isn't encoded to the url, refreshing the page will result in the current navigation node being the root of the pagination table. The encoded content plugin can't handle the root (it can handle only nodes which are faults). It's a problem...
