Save animation as animated GIF or Video

Hello. I have set this up so that the user can save the resulting image after they have sketched it and also that the JSON for the animation is stored in a database too so can be re-drawn at a later date. But what I am trying to do is offer an option of saving the animation as an animated GIF or video of some kind, rather than the completed static image. Do you know if this is possible and if so, would you be able to point me in the right direction? Thanks!
