You have B9S and the latest version of Luma. Is there any reason why you can't update to the latest 3ds firmware?

I don't want to. I want to keep ctr-httpwn support in case a future update does something objectionable.

There is nothing objectionable in the latest system version. You are not going to lose access to anything.

The latest system version is not necessarily the last version.

even if a future update did something bad, it can always (and probably will be) be patched out very quickly.

"Probably" isn't a guarantee, and there's no good reason to update.

Just found out that, in spite of the error above, the Friends app (my usual test) does, in fact, connect now.
