How do I update xbvr on raspberry pi?

This is frustrating the hell out of me. I've downloaded the new version and tried to kill the process and replace the file in /usr/bin/. When I do that it goes through a long update/scrape process and temporarily runs the new version but once that process completes it reverts to 0.3.23. I've now deleted xbvr from bin but it's still running the process somehow. Every time I kill it it reruns.
