A maintainer is a person who has one or more the following privileges on the project:

  • Assigning people to issues
  • Approving pull requests and merging them into the main branch
  • Approving designs by removing needs design labels and adding the buildable label

Maintainers also have the following responsibilities:

  • Triaging new issues
  • Set project vision
  • Form and managing partnerships with organizations on and off campus, including teachers and partner organizations
  • Recruiting, hire, onboard, and train other maintainers
  • Fundraise for the project in order to pay for project needs
  • Review pull requests to ensure code quality
  • Review design proposals to ensure design quality
  • Educate contributors about design, engineering, and other topics necessary for the project's success
  • Upholding and enforcing the community code of conduct
  • Creating a welcoming community of contributors
