things that may be usefull :
-i am running windows 11
-i don't own the game on steam and the only thing i have downloaded was the salvage ops zip
-error occurs when i try to open the LemnisGate.exe file from the SalvageOps folder or when i try to open LemnisGate-Win64-Shipping (the console only appears when i run the game exe (not the shipping one ))

-when i press ok on the error the following appears on the console (only when running the first exe):

-i may just be installing stuff completely wrong idk

Perhaps I did not make it clear in the instructions, but it is assumed that you already have an installation of the game and you unpack this patch from the archive into it, replacing the files.
The game doesn't have to be from Steam, you can use a game obtained through other means. In this case, refer to the non-steam usage parts of the readme.
Alternatively, I think you can still find and buy a Steam key for the game on a 3rd party platforms for about a buck, just make sure you don't get scammed.
