This breakout session aims to bring together communities and working groups that focus on web standards beyond the traditional browser environment. While much of the web's development has centered around browsers, there are many other environments, such as WebViews, JavaScript runtimes, and EPUB readers, where web standards play a critical role. This session will explore how these different groups can collaborate to enhance user perception and promote their environments in broader web standards development.
Session goal
Collaboration between groups to discuss challenges and identify areas where these environments can more effectively connect with web standards development efforts.

Introduction & Admin (5 min)
Roll call: Who is here and what environments are we looking at? (15 min)
Open discussion on discussion points (30 min)
Close up with minutes, follow up items, results etc. (10 min)
Session Objectives:
Foster collaboration between groups working on standards for non-traditional web environments.
Discuss challenges and opportunities in promoting these environments to both users and developers.
Explore potential synergies and shared goals across different projects like WebViews, JavaScript runtimes, and EPUB.
Identify areas where these environments can more effectively align with mainstream web standards development efforts.
Discussion Points:
What unique challenges do environments like WebViews, JavaScript runtimes, and EPUB face in relation to web standards?
How can we better communicate the role of these environments in the web ecosystem to users and developers?
What areas of collaboration between these groups can enhance user experiences and drive further adoption of web technologies?
How can we promote these non-traditional environments within W3C and other standards bodies?
You may update the session description as needed and at any time before the meeting, but please keep in mind that tooling relies on issue formatting: follow the instructions and leave all headings and other formatting intact in particular. Bots and W3C meeting organizers may also update the description, to fix formatting issues or add links and other relevant information. Please do not revert these changes. Feel free to use comments to raise questions.
Do not expect formal approval; W3C meeting organizers endeavor to schedule all proposed sessions that are in scope for a breakout. Actual scheduling should take place shortly before the meeting.
I plan to attend this session - thanks for organizing it! In particular, I'm curious about the overlap of concerns with our work in the WebExtensions Community Group.
