I was having mysterious problems with cover art, properly named, in correct locations, was showing up for some recordings and not other recordings.

It was really baffling.

After some fiddling around, I realized the cover art image files were big -- 7 or 8 MB -- 600 dpi scans -- over 3000x3000 pixels. JPG

I used a utility to make a smaller version, saved it off, renamed the old file to "folder_lg.jpg" and put the new one in as folder.jpg.

Immediately if I clicked on the album I would now see the album art -- before I just got the dot circle thing.

If I go back to the album summary, it shows the dot circle, but if I do a forced reload of the page, the album art shows up perfectly.

So, this should be easy to reproduce -- get any really big file, put it in there as folder.jpg (or what have you), clear album art cache, turn off web art, do a reload/rescan, see that you get the circle dot, put a smaller file in the same spot, easily see that it fixes the problem.

Presumably Volumio has either some max file size or some maximum pixel dimension -- either this should be fixed to handle very very large files OR maybe do some internal resizing OR at the least there should be documentation somewhere of the maximum cover file size (or dimension).

Hope this helps. It was driving me nuts!
