Hi, thank you for this important feedback. We've tried to reproduce your issue, but were unsuccessful.

We suspect that it has to do with your pip cache.
Would you mind trying to force update using "pip install fastdup -U" to get to version 2.5?
If that doesn't work, try cleaning up your pip cache.

We'd love to hear from you regardless to if it helped or not.
