Would be great to be able to load log files into influx. Would help with recovery from general and influx specific crashes, and also allow to upload data from before the signalk-to-influx installation.

This has been known to work and README even has a snippet about it https://github.com/tkurki/signalk-to-influxdb#provider , but I have no idea if it still works.

The basic idea is that you configure your log playback first, then add the plugin as a pipedprovider element and remove any timestamp based playback throttling. Simply using the plugin with unthrottled log playback will overwhelm influx, whereas the provider method implements backpressure.

This could be made much more user friendly, like this it is very cumbersome.

Thanks for picking this up. You are right, sounds cumbersome. I don’t think this needs any priority.
