For more than a decade now (e.g. Mitch Altman / Lady Ada), hobbyists have the ability to build brainwave entrainment machines (also called called "brain machines" or "mind machines"). Let's build one too (and let's try and figure out what we're doing).
-
Code and schematics (based on Chris Sparnicht / Mitch altman).
-
What the machine's session does (short answer: helps meditation). Note that although Altman says "14 minutes", the code has mutated over the years, and currently the session is about 19 minutes long.
-
Good introduction (also an interesting post on theta waves).
-
The basics of brainwaves at Anna Weiss center
-
Articles and research at Monroe institute
-
Mindplace support forum [check out their soundcloud channel: Tracks you can play and experience audion-only brainwave entrainment sessions. Looking for visuals to stare at? Try this 😉].
-
A thread (by me) at the Minpdlace forum about the machine(s) I'm trying to build, and links recommended to me there:
-
What do you see and why do you use your machine? (a "trip report" kinda thread. ובאותו עניין: פודקסט בעברית על התנסויות במערכת לוסיה 3)
-
PDF doc describing sessions for a Mindplace machine called Proteus as timelines of frequencies (source). [One of my most valuable discoveries so far: tried and tested frequency sessions, each with a short text description].
-
Isocronic.io (audio-only webapp). Has Many presets [To do: see if we can migrate the data].
-
Brainwave Frequency listing (any specific frenquency anyone ever had a theory about 😉).
