We are hoping (fingers crossed) to get a preview of this in as part of Tableau Desktop 2020.3. @Kovner will have more details. John |
Thank you for the update. |
More details: |
Hi @Kovner and @johnDance. With extensions becoming more integrated parts of published dashboards (like the Salesforce Einstein integration) in organizations the call for this function becoms louder. Can you maybe reveal some sort of roadmap or timeline for this request/function to manage expectations? |
Hi @SiebeG: It is hard to imagine, but implementing this on server requires some architectural changes to how Tableau handles exporting images. We need to align various groups around our proposal. We are making progress, but it is still a ways off. |
Thank you for the response @johnDance |
Update: this is working on Tableau Desktop now, but work is still in progress for Server and Online. |
When will it be released for Server / Online? Tableau customers are waiting for this and it is a blocker for extensions |
As @merlijnbuit asked above, what is the estimate for this new enhancement to be released? |
@merlijnbuit @SiebeG rest assured, it's a high priority. We can't comment on or promise specific dates but will keep this thread updated with progress. |
@bcantoni can you perhaps share some insights on a roadmap for this desired feature? |
We have not received funding for this project yet. We will continue to lobby for it. |
Hi @Kovner and @johnDance , do you have any update about this feature / fix ? |
I second this, also interested in any potential resolution @Kovner and @johnDance |
@Oytoch and @angreinervalantic thanks for commenting here. FYI both Kovner and John are working elsewhere now :) In any case the reality is this project is still "on the backlog" and might be considered for the future. I'm still hopeful we'll find a way to better support Extensions for printing/exporting/etc but for now I don't have any better news to share. |
Hi!
I know you are working crazy hard on this, but is there a timeline for extensions to be part of the PDF / Image export?
I am asking this for a customer(s)
Thanks!
