Nothing is worse than when the owner of a parent residence sells subzones to other players for money, then once all subzones are sold, removes his claim (and potentially steals from the players who had subzones in the area), causing all players who owned subzones that they had paid for to loose their land.
A great fix to this issue would be to not allow the owner of a residence to be able to delete their residence unless ALL subzones within it are owned by them. This would mean that, if the owner of the residences wishes to delete his residence (and get a partial refund back), he/she would first have to buy back (or bargin for) all of the land that they sold to other players. Not only does this guarantee the safety of players who prefer to live in cities, but also helps minimize the risk of any sort of griefing, as well as the time staff have to invest because of said griefing.
This feature would of course add in yet another reason why /res update NEEDS to be added in, because without /res update, there would be no way for a residence owner to expand his/her city. Speaking of /res update, it also needs to be noted that one of the conditions for /res update is that it does not remove any subzones that are either not owned by the player or the player is not an admin for.
If I had to take a gander at what the configuration for this would look like, it would be something like the following:
CanDeleteUnownedSubzones: false
I believe that this would be the PERFECT solution to this issue, and I feel that many would agree with me about it.
