mscgen (as well as xu and msgenny) were designed to be embedded in markup documents, which already have support titles/ captions that is way beyond what mscgen can cleanly provide. This is the reason there is no support for titles/ captions in mscgen.js.

• This is assuming a title/ caption is a piece of text on top/ bottom (or left/ right) of the chart that can hold a short description of the chart (check?)
• What use case do you have that has the need for titles (/ captions)?

It is always easy to indicate a title text or caption to instantly indicate what the diagram entails. I store many diagrams in the form of call flows, (I’m a telco sales engineer for core telco signalling networks) and I often need to create multiple different diagrams that kind of look the same but show a different use case in the call flow diagram. A caption - or title text would allow me to easily switch between multiple diagrams when I explain those diagrams to others without having to go into the diagram in details to see if I have the correct diagram at display when explaining and switching through the different call flow diagrams.
