Dear Su2 team,
I am Kalpesh Khare, an undergraduate student pursuing Aerospace Engineering at IIT Bombay, India. I am excited to express my interest in contributing to the SU2 project through the Google Summer of Code program, particularly focusing on the project "Differentiated Meshing for CFD-based Design."
Here is a brief overview of my qualifications and how I intend to contribute to this project: Name: Kalpesh Khare
Contact: [email protected]
Contact Number: +91-9022513006
LinkedIn Profile: linkedin.com/in/kalpeshkhare
Education: Undergraduate student at IIT Bombay, India. Aerospace Engineering Department
Code Experience: Proficient in C, C++, Python, Web Development (Angular, NodeJS), Database (MongoDB), and App Development (Flutter)
I have a keen interest in computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and I've worked extensively with tools like ANSYS. Through projects in my aerodynamics courses, I've gained practical experience in mesh generation and CFD simulations. SU2's philosophy of democratizing access to multiphysics analysis and design optimization aligns perfectly with my interests and aspirations. I am particularly intrigued by the project's focus on differentiated meshing and its integration with SU2.
I am enthusiastic about working on developing a code to generate discretized meshes with gradient information, coupling it with SU2, and benchmarking the new method against traditional approaches. I am confident in my skills in Python, which will be crucial for developing the meshing code and differentiating it using libraries like JAX. My familiarity with C++ and prior experience with ANSYS will facilitate the integration of the meshing code with SU2.
As an undergraduate student, I have classes for approximately 5-6 hours a day. However, I am committed to dedicating at least 15-20 hours per week to this project until the end of April. During my upcoming vacation months in May, June and July, I will be able to allocate 5-6 hours daily to the project, which should provide ample time to tackle the challenges posed by this medium-hard project.
I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to the SU2 project and believe that my skills and dedication make me a suitable candidate for this project. I am looking forward to the possibility of working with mentor Nitish Anand and the SU2 team during the Google Summer of Code program.
I would appreciate it if you could connect me with the project mentor to further discuss the project details and establish a timeline. I am eager to collaborate closely with the mentor to ensure the successful completion of the project.
Thank you for considering my application. I am available for any further discussions or clarifications you may require.
