Is choice of zulipchat platform inclusive enough for open-source?

While trying to get some real time chat interaction with cspell folks, I tried to use the advertised https://cspell.zulipchat.com/ from project homepage. Sadly, I discovered that I need approval in order to join it.

CSpell is an Open Source Project dedicated to improving code quality by providing spell checking tools and plug-ins.

You need an invitation to join this organization.

TBH, that is the first time I face zulipchat, most projects I contributed to are using other platforms (sorted them my popularity, at least the way I seen it):

• matrix irc/freenode replacement, federalized and you could run your own server (unlikely to need)
• discord
• slack

Maybe a simple matrix room named #cspell would be more than enough?

I think you are the first person to try it. The idea was to be able to visit without the need to be logged in.

There hasn't been any activity on the channels. Maybe because it is behind a login wall.

In that case I created https://app.element.io/#/room/#cspell:matrix.org - give it a try and you might find it more suitable. I will make you admin once you join.

I am using matrix only for open-source projects, few that I can mention ansible, podman, fedora, mkdocs, pytest.
