Note: we only want databases that are:

  • the product of on-the-ground tree surveying (not aerial imagery),
  • open data
  • not duplicating another source of data already included
  • Name of town/city/whatever: Flanders

  • Page with information about the dataset: https://www.geopunt.be/catalogus/datasetfolder/b48d419b-2af9-44b2-ba05-da6c32aa2f3c
    Translation:
Trees are sub-meter accurate point locations that represent each inventoried tree along the numbered roads. The numbered roads are managed by the Roads and Traffic Agency. The trees can be either single trees or rows of trees. A row of trees can be an ascending row of trees, i.e. planting in a line of ascending trees, of approximately the same age, at a regular planting distance depending on the growth habit of the tree species and the intended final image. Or a row of topiary trees: Planting in a line of topiary trees, of approximately the same age, at a regular planting distance, depending on the intended final image. Depending on the type of shape tree (bunch tree, espalier, candelabra, clipped tree) and the intended final image, management is performed periodically. In single trees, upright trees are distinguished as tall, low-stem and multi-stem trees. Isolated topiary trees are: pollard trees, espaliers, candelabra and sheared trees.

  • URL that directly downloads the dataset: https://opendata.apps.mow.vlaanderen.be/opendata-geoserver/awv/wfs?typeName=awv:Bomen&SERVICE=WFS&VERSION=1.1.0&REQUEST=getFeature&outputFormat=SHAPE-ZIP

  • Dataset format (should be CSV, GeoJSON or zipped Shapefile): zipped Shapefile

  • Country: Belgium

  • Important fields (if not in English/French - especially height, diameter, crown width):

Reference system: Belge 1972 / Belgian Lambert 72
