Assumes 

- a Linux session, 
- the iotop utility 
- python3

I run this with sudo that does not expect a password. 

     %wheel ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: ALL 

It will probably run under sudo but I don't know that.

You'll have to read through it. you will need to change the logfile path. I'd be interested in seeing any other changes you make. And please let me know of any errors you find.
