problem flashing firmware! no Solo found

I installed the solo1-cli with pip on Ubuntu Jammy. I had to add the udev rules following: https://docs.solokeys.dev/udev/, but it wont update. I tried reinserting it, and solo1 ls` finds it, but the update fails again, and then ls cant find it again.
