Compile-gwt-modules very very slow, can we directly add dependencies in the grails dependencies and not use extended-dependency-manager to resolve dependencies?

You can temporarily try to use version with another way of implementation Maven support:

compile ':gwt:0.9.4-MVN'

Also you need to add below repository:

mavenRepo 'https://raw.github.com/donbeave/mavenrepo/master/'
