Use cases for using the App structure in the storefront

Hi Shopware,

I was wondering what kind of use cases you are seeing for apps in the storefront. As I understand it now apps add functionality via iframes, these are not always the most user friendly solutions and sometimes come with some serious limitations.

How do you envision storefront modifications or additions without having to commit to a theme? Think of features like newsletter integrations, adding new elements to specific locations in the checkout etc.
