Currently, the only way to avoid trimming line breaks using 2 spaces in Markdown is to exclude all Markdown files.
Given that the only issue arises when trimming exactly 2 spaces, it should be possible to only trim lines in Markdown files which don't end with exactly 2 spaces.

is there currently a way to specify the regexp on a per-language basis ?

if trailing-spaces.markdown.regexp is defined, then it would take precedence over the global regexp
